“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – Roald Dahl
Hi there! My name’s Matt, as you might have guessed (that’s me in the picture over there). I’m the captain of this here spaceship. Nice to meet you! Since you’re here I suppose you’d like to know a bit about me then? Where to begin……
Let’s start with a few basics. I’m a photographer currently based in Brighton, Michigan. In the May of 2014 I received an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Photographic Technology from Washtenaw Community College. I have an affinity for technology and I’m very good at tinkering with things just enough to discover what will break them. Which is usually followed by learning how to fix whatever it is I just broke.
It’s A Magical World
If you ask me (pretend that you asked), sometimes I think there’s not enough magic left in the world. Or, at the very least, not enough people get to see it. Not crazy voodoo magic or anything like that, mind you. Do you remember when you were a kid and everything was interesting, everything was worth wondering about and exploring? What about when you see something now and you’re automatically attracted to it, but you have no idea why? That person you just met, a new favorite place, or some thing else that pulls you in, gives you that tingly feeling deep inside, and won’t let go. That’s the kind of magic I’m talking about.
I want to make things like that. I want to create something magical, something worth wondering about and exploring. Not everybody’s going to like the things that get made but for those that do, it’ll be fantastic.
As usual, Calvin says it best:
As for the name, there isn’t really all that an interesting of a story behind it. Things like “Kaiser Photography” and such were all taken already, not to mention they sound kinda boring (no offense to those guys, of course). So I was brainstorming ideas for a name and stumbled into Intergalactic Photographic. It sorta rhymes and I’m easily amused. Also, outer space fascinates me. I don’t know why exactly, it just seems to have this sort of hauntingly wondrous pull about it. Being the bit of a nerd I am, I also just so happen to like stuff such as Star Trek and Star Wars (and the ever great Firefly!). Which is, more or less, why I went with it. It’s fun and just a little bit strange. Besides, who doesn’t like awesome spaceships and stuff?
